Next to the burial place of Ruth HaMoavia, a Shul was built in her honor. During the Crusades, it was captured and turned into a Church.
A cross was built in the place of the Holy Ark. As people walked through the low entrance, they were forced to bow to it. Eventually it fell into a state of disrepair and was abandoned.
In 2014 in honor of Shavuos, and under the leadership of Rabbi Ben Packer, the stones and rubble were painstakingly cleared, the cross was removed, and before the eyes of our Jewish brothers and sisters, this 1500 year old memorial to Ruth was rededicated as a Shul.
Now Ruth can rest in peace.
One step at a time till we see the Beit Hamikdash back to be what It should be!!!
This is a beautiful and true story of rebirth, renewal, and rededication due to the dedication of those who know the history and cared enough to make it come back to life. It brought tears to my eyes, and is a symbol of love for Ruth and our loyalty to those who are loyal, and the reward of success in signifying it with which HaShm. finally crowned the efforts of those who sought to rededicate this beautiful memorial.
Where is this burial place?
