Rabbi Gavriel Klatzko lived in South Africa, where he brought hundreds of disaffected Jews closer to God and His Torah. He passed away in his sleep suddenly at the age of 28, leaving a young widow and four children. He was an inspiring and compassionate Rabbi and mentor, whose love for each and every person left a dark void with his passing. Thousands came to his funeral and shiva, and memorials are held each year in Israel, South Africa, and Cleveland. May his memory be an eternal blessing for his family and all his people.

At the wedding of Rabbi Gavriel Klatzko’s oldest daughter, children named after him got together to sing in honor of the bride.

Although people knew of his great work and dedication, Rabbi Gavriel was an incredibly fun and easy-going fellow with a melodic voice and a wonderful sense of humor. Singing with him (in the glasses) is a young Rabbi Benzion Klatzko, founder of Shabbat.com and Rabbi Gavriel’s older brother. Rabbi Benzion Klatzko credits his brother with inspiring him to enter Rabbinics and Jewish outreach and education. May his memory be a blessing!
